About This Concert
In 2005, the internationally-acclaimed choral ensemble, Tenebrae, premiered a new choral work by Joby Talbot called Path of Miracles. It traces the historical pilgrimage made on the Camino de Santiago in northern Spain, one of the most strenuous pilgrimage journeys in the Roman Catholic tradition, from Roncesvalles to Santiago de Compostela. Musically, the work is just as demanding as the route, perfectly personifying the journey of those who have walked the Path. It utilizes nine languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Basque, Occitan, Latin, and Medieval Galician, and explores an array of extended vocal techniques.

These performances of Path will be led by conductor Maura Tuffy, and 17 singers who regularly sing with choral ensembles around the greater Southern California region such as the Los Angeles Master Chorale, Tonality, and Bach Collegium San Diego.

"Path of Miracles is a journey for both the performers and audience members alike – one that personally deepens each time I get the opportunity to sing the piece. It was the inspiration for my own Camino, walked in 2018, and was with me all the way from the Pyrenees to the Atlantic sea."
